AARP

If you are old enough, you probably remember receiving your first AARP application.

Perhaps you threw it away, denying the reality of aging. Maybe you were excited to receive the benefits associated with an older lifestyle.

While AARP stands for American Association of Retired Persons, if you are like me, you may not feel quite there at any age. Consider a leadership angle.

Accomplish: Leaders make things happen.

Attitude: Leaders set the tone for everyone.

Respect: Respect is earned and given. To receive it, be willing to give it.

Presence: Show up! Presence provides security and direction.

Facing Challenging Changes

In our lifetime, the church has experienced several changes. Some changes have been good and some destructive. While changes occur today, it is safe to say, more changes will come.

Paul Harvey said, “In times like these it is good to remember that there have always been times like these.”

Solomon originally expressed it this way, “There is nothing new under the sun.”

Leaders will always face challenges. It may be a different generation, culture, gender, age, or time of day, but challenges will come.

Let us seek God’s counsel and listen to His word. Here we will find the true answers to solve the challenges we face.

Stress and Leadership…

What creates stress in our lives and why does it seem to increase? Three major contributors are age, education and finances.

It is amazing how these are connected to who we are, which is directly related to what we do, what others say about us, and what we have.

Only when we recognize who we really are can we overcome this misconception. Leadership must help remove this struggle with stress.

We all face success and failure. Others speak well of us and against us. We also deal with times when we have and do not have things.

Whatever happens, we must remember we are the beloved of God.
