Potential…Part 3

What steps should we take to reach our potential. Here are a few suggestions:

First and foremost, do NOT limit God. Several accounts in scripture (Numbers 11:16-23; 1 Samuel 14:6-15) indicate the unlimited power of our God. He is not limited by physical space or time. We must never think that God is unable to do something because we are unwilling to do it.

Secondly, we need to start thinking “BIG.” One of the greatest hindrances to growth is we think too small. We need to expand our vision and remove the boundaries in our minds that limit us and start thinking BIG!

Leading With Boundaries

Boundaries are welcomed by some and frightening to others. Boundaries mark the limits of an area or activity.

On one hand, these limits can inhibit the creativity of those who need to develop their abilities and opportunities to explore beyond the norm.

On the other hand, these limits provide safety and security in ways that prevent drifting into areas that represent risk, danger, and defeat.

Leaders need to know how to use boundaries properly. Followers need opportunity to spread the wings of creativity and explore beyond the status quo.

At the same time, there must be strategic lines that minimize the risk of loss.

Unlimited Leadership…

The power of the mind is amazing. However, a Chinese proverb says, “Limitations are but the boundaries we place in our minds.”

The Old Testament account of the ten spies demonstrates this limitation. How they saw themselves kept them from seeing how God would lead them to victory.

Denis Waitley said, “It’s not who you are that holds you back. It’s who you think you’re not.”

Leaders are held back, not because they lack ability, but they see themselves as incapable of accomplishing the task.

We must recognize who God is and all He will do through the power that works within us.
