An Expression of Doubt

Thomas often receives the greatest criticism because of his desire to see the hands and side of Jesus.

However, scripture teaches that all the apostles fled when Jesus was condemned to die. All the apostles initially doubted reports from the women who claimed they had seen Him.

It should not take a visible manifestation of Jesus to recognize that the whole of who we are is connected to Jesus as Lord.

Thomas was one who challenged the report, demonstrated in his expression of doubt. However, once he saw Jesus, he did not hesitate to confess what all leaders should place at the foundation of their leadership.

Perspective

Apart from academic definitions, perspective brings several thoughts to mind when viewed by two different parties.

A Christian perspective views life from a biblical foundation. When we contrast the physical versus spiritual, what God says provides hope in an eternal promise.

However, a worldly perspective tends to view life with uncertainty, fear, and doubt. The world’s philosophy can only paint a picture that is temporal and hopeless.

This is why spiritual leadership is so important.

Regardless of the pleasant or unpleasant possibilities in life, a Christian perspective always leaves us with the courage to face uncertainty with hope!

Fear-Less

All of us, at one point or another, face fear. While we would love to be fearless, to possess an attitude or mindset of having no fear, or the absence of fear, the challenge is daunting.

We need to consider, however, a possibility as it relates to leadership.

Reverse the order. Think about having less fear.

There is an element of doubt when thinking that a leader will have no fear or even eliminate fear. Life and leadership will always present times of fear. During those times we can demonstrate less fear, but what makes it possible to do so? Read Hebrews 11:1 – 12:4.

Keep Others Informed

When leaders do not keep others informed, the following happens:

People grow suspicious.
Distrust blossoms.
Doubt develops in leadership ability.
Stress fuels worry.
Anxiety leads to fear.

The lack of communication is not always intentional. Sometimes, we grow into a structured life. We develop a routine and life becomes monotonous. In the end, our communication is often affected.

Is it possible to prevent these concerns from developing and growing? Yes!

Following these three simple words…Keep others informed.

What kind of information needs to be provided? Inform others about…

Plans for the future.
Changes that need to be made.
Challenges / or hindrances facing the plans.
Any and all needs.
