Portion

The psalms point out that God is our portion forever. The word translated portion is often translated as reward.

Realizing that God is our strength gives us confidence, but knowing that He is our reward gives us hope.

Spiritual leaders must always portray the confidence of God given strength. However, one of the most powerful components to great leadership is the ability to instill hope in others.

When leadership provides hope, no matter how high the mountain, how low the valley, or the size of the obstacle, people will endure and overcome.

Fearless vs Less Fear…

The word “fearless” conjures up several thoughts, primarily to be without fear. However, reverse the word – “less fear.”

Various events in our leadership will always create times of fear. Fear is not eliminated, but we can demonstrate less fear, but how? Read Hebrews 11:1 – 12:3.

Faith!

Enduring life’s challenges is strengthened by victorious faith. Others have also overcome; see the great cloud of witnesses.

Trust in God’s promise; run with endurance the race set before you.

Even the greatest of obstacles, at their best are still temporary; keep your eyes fixed on Jesus.

Optimistic Leadership…

Nelson Mandela said, “I am fundamentally an optimist. Whether that comes from nature or nurture, I cannot say. Part of being optimistic is keeping one’s head pointed toward the sun, one’s feet moving forward. There were many dark moments when my faith in humanity was sorely tested, but I would not and could not give myself up to despair. That way lays defeat and death.”

We are challenged to remain positive and optimistic in a world filled with the kind of hatred that fosters negativity and pessimism.

Dark moments will come, but biblical leaders understand the hope in Christ that endures despair.

The victory Jesus achieved must keep us focused and moving forward.

Lasting Leadership…

Blueprints provide specific dimensions for constructing everything from a tool shed to a mega complex or high rise.

A blueprint outline every detail to ensure the structure will last.

Where can leaders find a blueprint that will benefit them and ensure lasting leadership? The Bible.

Paul points out no human has the power to lay the kind of foundation needed for lasting leadership. Only Jesus can provide that kind of foundation (1 Corinthians 3:11).

From His example we learn the nature, qualities, and character of leadership that God desires for us today.

A Balanced Leader…

“Man of God.” What do these words mean to a spiritual leader?

One, it refers to someone waiting for the Lord. Such activity is supported by obtaining new strength and an ability to tirelessly endure.

Two, the man of God is balanced. Regardless of the challenges that often create imbalance, the man of God remains balanced.

While waiting for the Lord, spiritual leaders are strengthened, prepared to face difficulty, travel any distance, patiently endure temptation, and overcome any obstacle.

Spiritual leaders understand the responsibility of family and ministry and must learn how to remain balanced with both.

A Dedicated Leader…

Leaders understand dedication to a fault, and they are dedicated to several areas.

They are dedicated to God. First, and foremost, their life belongs to the Almighty. They follow Him, whatever it takes.

They are dedicated to their family. They make sacrifices and express love through a willingness to do whatever is needed to get their family to heaven.

They are dedicated to the church. No words adequately describe what leaders endure to help God’s people enjoy the security of the hope found in Jesus.

For these reasons, and many more, this post is dedicated to those leaders!
