Seat Belt Leadership

Seat belts are designed to protect drivers and passengers in the event of accidents. The purpose of a seat belt raises an important thought for leaders.

Spiritual leaders are to provide protection in the event of temptation, trial, struggle, and weakness. Our influence should create confidence in our ability to provide safety. What does this mean? Think about the similarities:

1) We must be there when the need exists.
2) We must connect with people to be useful.
3) We must protect without being uncomfortable.
4) We must signal when someone is unprotected.

Leading with Prayer

I recently heard a question asked, “Do we believe in prayer?”

Most people can attest to God answering prayers in powerful ways.

Perhaps the struggle we have deals with the temptation to doubt when various trials arise and challenge our faith in God’s power to answer.

There is no magic formula, special words, proper position, or time of day that makes a difference in prayer.

For Christians, prayer is about the simplicity of a humble heart that trusts God to answer in His time, in His ways, and in our best interest.

We may not always understand, but prayer is foundational to powerful leadership.

Walking Away…

Robert Tew wrote, “Sometimes walking away has nothing do with weakness, and everything to do with strength. We walk away not because we want others to realize our worth and value, but because we finally realize our own.”

Satan wants us to believe our worth is summed up in achieved success, what others say about us, and what we have materially. No greater lie exists.

When we understand we are God’s children, made in His image, our worth changes incredibly.

Resist the temptation to find worth in the temporal things of this life and realize the greatness of God. Walking away from sin is eternally worth it all.

Enduring Leadership…

For leaders, endurance is difficult. To endure means to bear up under the load. It is more than being patient. 

While we need patience, endurance challenges us to hold on and hold on longer than we can imagine.

Consider these thoughts.

If God brings us to it, He will see us through it.

God will not allow us to be tempted beyond what we are able to bear (1 Co. 10:13).

No matter how difficult, trials are only temporary.

With some perspective, we can endure knowing our God is in control.
