Motivational Leadership…

What motivates us? Success? Money? Security? Relationships? Power? Survival? Growth?

Whatever it is, leaders are called upon to motivate others. The art of motivation involves knowing how to stimulate or excite action toward desired interests.

The New Testament provides a number of unusual examples.

The greatest in the kingdom are servants.

Those who receive have presented themselves as a living sacrifice.

The blessed first give to others.

Think about the spiritual leadership we offer. Have we set the example based on what motivates us in the same direction?

Here is where our leadership begins. We must be motivated to motivate others to an eternal home.

A Dedicated Leader…

Leaders understand dedication to a fault, and they are dedicated to several areas.

They are dedicated to God. First, and foremost, their life belongs to the Almighty. They follow Him, whatever it takes.

They are dedicated to their family. They make sacrifices and express love through a willingness to do whatever is needed to get their family to heaven. 

They are dedicated to the church. No words adequately describe what leaders endure to help God’s people enjoy the security of the hope found in Jesus.

For these reasons, and many more, this post is dedicated to those leaders!

Suffering Leadership…

A leader with passion and little talent will always out perform a leader with talent and little passion. E.M. Forster said, “One person with passion is better than forty people merely interested.

However, our modern definition of passion leaves much to be desired, because we often limit our thinking to enthusiasm or excitement.

The word is originally derived from a Latin word that means “to suffer.”

Leaders need enthusiasm. They need to be driven to achieve their goals, but when leaders are passionate they willingly make sacrifices.

Leadership is never easy, but the results of passionate leadership are always life-changing.

“In biblical Judaism, salt was mixed with animal sacrifices (Leviticus 2:13). This salt was a symbol of wisdom, discretion, and an enduring covenant. In the East, salt is an expression for the league of mutual amity. When the Arabs make a covenant together, they put salt on the blade of a sword, from whence everyone puts a little into his mouth. This constitutes blood relations and they remain faithful to each other, even when in danger of life. Leadership is a continual commitment, a covenant of sorts, to sacrificially exercise wisdom and discretion.” Wayne Roberts
