Grateful Leaders…

Two of the most unused, yet needed and powerful words, are “thank you,” but why should leaders be thankful.

Leaders should express gratitude because…

1) God placed them in this position to glorify Him.
2) The opportunity to influence others for Jesus is the greatest work on earth.
3) Hope is the message provided through godly leaders.
4) Others trust leaders to show them the way.
5) Leadership makes a difference on an eternal scale. 

Leaders must recognize why they should be thankful as much as the action of showing gratitude.

Our God is great who has given us leaders!

Leading With The Future In View…

How will we lead when we consider the future of…

Our children? The choices they make? Their friends? Their work ethic? 

Our church? The confidence of the church? Their hope? The promise of eternity? 

Our neighbors? Who they turn to during trials? Their spiritual questions? How they see Jesus?

Our friends? Their spiritual focus? Their approach to relationships? When they face temptation? 

Our co-workers? Their knowledge of biblical principles? Their character? Their home-life? 

When we consider their future, it is worth giving thought to how we lead.

A Unique Leader…

Being unique applies to almost anything or anyone.

The more unique the more desirable, valuable, and popular.

What about our leadership is unique?

Potentially, our purpose is what makes leadership unique. In reality, it is the only part of leadership that is unique.

Spiritual leadership has one purpose unlike anything else, special and unusual. This purpose was born out of the unconditional love of the Creator for His creation, a purpose to be demonstrated one to another. 

This purpose is what keeps us focused and leads to the only hope for all of humanity. Helping others find this hope is what makes a unique leader.

Taking Control…

Control is the power to influence and direct people’s behavior or the course of events.

At times, someone needs to take control. We know people who are controlling. We preach about self-control. We even discuss the need to be in control

What does this mean and why is it important? 

Leaders must know when to take control. Without being controlling, they should epitomize self-control. And when someone needs to be in control, they should be our guide.

When leaders use their influence in a Biblical and godly way, the course of events can be shaped in ways that change eternity.

The Value of Time…

“Just a second” is usually the catch phrase we use when we are busy and someone requires our attention.

To a child, time is incomprehensible. However, the value of time is priceless.

For adults, we only know and comprehend time, but the value we place on time is usually based on what we earn in the space of time.

Spiritual leaders need to comprehend and place a greater value on time.

A time is coming when time will no longer exist. We really cannot comprehend the idea of eternity, but what we need to understand is that how we use our time now determines our eternity.

Let us make the most of our time.

Scared or Sacred Leadership…

Swapping two letters can make a big difference and it raises two questions.

Why is leadership so scary? The answers are abundant. The responsibility of leading people to eternity, knowing that leaders must set goals and plans, maintain morale, resolve conflict, provide solutions, etc., all contribute to why leadership can be a scary place.

How do we overcome the scared ground for sacred ground? Spiritual leadership is a God-given role and He will help us overcome. Time in prayer provides a more sacred footing and studying heroes of faith, as in Hebrews 11, help our approach to sacred ground.

This is a start and sometimes getting started is half the battle.

A Cause To Lead…

Passion drives our efforts in relationship to specific causes. The causes range from self-preservation to self-gratification.

At times we labor in a cause that provides for the physical wellbeing of others. We even appreciate the value of a cause that preserves the wellbeing of the planet.

As leaders it is vital that we develop a vision for the spiritual cause of Christ.

We labor diligently to provide for the physical future of our families. We should also consider their spiritual and eternal future with the same intensity.

Of all the causes worth leading, let us lead others to an eternal future.

Heart of Leaders…

Do we have the heart for leadership? Our leadership is about influence, passion, character, vision and much more. If we have the heart for leadership we do what is necessary to prepare ourselves in each area to grow and develop appropriately.

Do we have the heart for people? Good leadership involves people and no two people are alike. Having a heart for people means being a part of their lives and being transparent with our own. Connecting with people raises leadership to incredible heights and makes an eternal difference.

Not everyone has the heart for it. However, those who have a heart for leadership change the future.

Loving Leadership…

“Welcome to McDonalds. I’m lovin’ it. May I take your order.”

We’ve all heard it and wondered, “Do they really love it?” Does the tone of voice indicate otherwise?

The idea here is formidable for our leadership. We should express our enthusiasm and demonstrate our love for God through our leadership of others.

This does not mean we will always have good days, that life will be filled with comfort and convenience, or free from tragedy, illness or difficulty. 

It means our joy is found in knowing we can face the challenges of life with confidence, because the outcome of completeness and a hope of an eternal dwelling are far greater than anything this life offers.
