Entrusted

The origin of our word “entrust” speaks to the idea of placing something into the hand of another.

Paul reminded Timothy of what had been entrusted to him and instructed him to place it into the hands of those who are faithful so that they, in turn, will teach others also.

When something is entrusted to us, it carries a responsibility to care for, guard, protect, cherish, and faithfully use it.

Considering what has been placed into our hands as spiritual leaders, we carry the same responsibility.

One day we will give an account for the stewardship of what has been entrusted to us, including the souls we lead.

More

We have all heard ads for products followed up with, “Wait, there’s more.” At this point the offer is usually doubled in some manner.

Considering our leadership, what more is there?

Leadership is more than power.
Leadership is more than position.
Leadership is more than a title.
Leadership is more than influence.

There will always be more regarding spiritual leadership. If we approach the task with humility and love, we can realize growth in the church and bring glory to our God.

But there will always be more!

If we act now, more souls will enjoy the beauty of heaven.

Peace

A few moments of reading or watching the news reveals the desire for peace, which seems to be unattainable.

Peace is not the absence of conflict. True peace is only found in a relationship with God through Jesus Christ. He is our peace. His purpose in coming to earth and going to the cross was to provide all nations with peace, uniting all people from every tribe, nation, and tongue into one body.

Our task as leaders is to help others find the only peace that provides hope and unity, which can only be found in the true Prince of peace.

When we think souls, there is a renewed purpose for helping others enjoy what only Jesus can give.

Leadership Slogan

Our world is filled with catchy phrases and slogans.

Kay Jewelers: “Every kiss begins with Kay.”

Nike: “Just do it.”

Army: “Be all you can be.”

Maxwell House: “Good to the last drop.”

How many remember the slogan for Wheaties? The “Breakfast of ____________________.”

While slogans are popular, our leadership should not be defined by them. Our leadership is not about a slogan; it is about souls, leading others to Christ. Let us make our leadership count for something right.

In case you are still trying to figure out the Wheaties slogan, it is “champions.”

Challenges

Challenges can refer to a conflict of nature (I challenge you to a dual).

They indicate the magnitude, or difficulty, in achieving a specific goal (We are challenged to reach five thousands souls).

They may be an objection (Our purpose is being challenged by another organization).

Challenges also express a motivational tactic to create action (I challenge you to share Jesus with others).

Our leadership will face challenges, many of which fall into one or more of these categories.

Leadership exists in the face of challenge at every level. The true measure of our character is determined by where we stand in the times of challenge.

Leaders Needed

Leadership is a gift best given, not received. Calvin Coolidge said it best, “No person was ever honored for what he received. Honor has been the reward for what he gave.”

The Western mindset generally leans more toward what we receive. After all, “What’s in it for me?”

True leadership and honor are connected to giving.

When we give ourselves to the task of leading others, then the spiritual outcome saves souls.

We need leaders. We need spiritual leaders. Will we give ourselves to leading others today?

This is where honor is rewarded.

Update Your Leadership

Owning a smart phone presents several challenges, especially when it comes to scheduled updates, which occur frequently. We learn several things:

The speed of change. Technology is changing rapidly.

Public demands. Anytime a new tool is released, the public puts it to the test.

Competition. Everyone must bring their “A game” to succeed.

Spiritual leadership is called to lead people with this influence. Our culture is constantly changing, problems require attention…now, and Satan competes for the souls of humanity. The task before us is not easy.

Perhaps we need a leadership update. Stay tuned for more.

Global Leadership

Leadership is universal in application and is not limited to race, gender, age, or position.

Anyone can lead from anywhere.

A global leadership mindset demonstrates a compassion for souls that drives every action.

They give their lives to prepare others to lead.
They dedicate themselves to the work of evangelism.
They love their people and want them to be saved.
They work to serve, not to be served.

The example provided by these leaders demonstrates the character needed for those who learn under them. They lead from anywhere and everywhere around the globe.

Getting Out of the Rut

The rut is easy, comfortable, and expected.

We never seem to find the time to talk to a neighbor about Jesus. We are busy with a variety of family and work activities. Starting a Bible study would fill up another night. When we get home at night we are tired and we just want to sit down and relax.

However, our neighbors, the grocery clerk, bank teller, those in sales, and the waiter or waitress, still need Christ.

We have to get out of the rut, get uncomfortable, and start thinking souls. We are spiritual leaders and our task on earth is to lead others to Him.

Spiritual Leader

Spiritual leaders do not serve themselves but others. They care about souls and eternity.

Spiritual leaders know the value of the gospel and the change it brings. They also understand the necessity of the work.

The head of a spiritual leader is understanding and willing.
The heart of a spiritual leader is humble and compassionate.
The hands of a spiritual leader are strong and serving.
The feet of a spiritual leader move forward.

No, there is nothing easy about it. However, spiritual leadership makes a difference. It is up to you and me to lead as spiritual leaders today.
